How do you prepare for a gig? Do you get excited? Nervous?
Running around setting up a drum kit and hopping over wires is my cardio before a gig. Absolutely. Oddly enough I never really get nervous before a gig, I just get amped-maybe its a drummer thing.
What's your favourite song that Jukebox performs and why?
My favourite tune that Jukebox plays would have to be ‘Aint Nobody’ by Chaka Khan. The groove is so minimal but the bass line in the vamp/verse sections is disgusting.
What song would you like to see Jukebox perform?
I’d like to see Jukebox perform ‘Like I Love You’ by Justin Timberlake. Its another tune with a driving and recognisable groove with sweet transitional sections, not to mention I’d be singing/shouting along from the back.
If you could work with one musician dead or alive, who would it be? And you can only choose one!
I would love to work with Quincy Jones. He’s a compositional and arranging genius, who knows what people want to hear. Nuff said.
What do you do outside of Jukebox?
Outside of Jukebox, I play the drums for a few other original bands in Manchester, while doing a music MA at The University of Salford.
What's your favourite part of a Wedding?
My favourite part of a wedding is when everyone takes to the dance floor and ‘busts loose’, as the kids say. Its a thrill to see people genuinely enjoying themselves to the music especially when Jukebox is providing it!
In your opinion what's the best thing about Jukebox and how do we differ from your normal function bands?
Jukebox always tailors each performance to its unique clients and provides a fantastic celebratory environment, while keeping things fresh every time! Not to mention the band are great musicians AND decent folk. You can’t beat that.
What are you looking forward to most with Jukebox for the rest of 2014 and beyond?
Well the year is almost over but I am looking forward to seeing how things go at the wedding shows that Jukebox is taking part in. I’m anxious to see the reception from potential clients. I know Jukebox will continue to thrive and grow in the near future. Oh, and more gigs OF COURSE.
