Welcome to another instalment of meet the band, this week we meet up with the groove maker Dan Whitelegg. A superb drummer with tons of natural ability Dan is the backbone of the band who we will keep beat to.
Below is his Q&A for more information about our band or for booking for corporate, parties and wedding events please just click the button below and speak to Paul Wharton
Cake and a brew. Simple. Not much a good cake and brew can't sort out. 3rd cake is always the best. I rarely get nervous, usually very excited to get on and sit in a groove. But a little bit nerves are always fun.
Whats your favorite song and why ?
.........No, I joke.
It's gotta be Superstition. One of the best tunes ever written! Although I do really enjoy Lady Marmalade, and any of the Chic numbers and I got you (feel good) and Respect, and.....ahh too many to mention, the list is endless.
What song would you like to see the band perform in the future?
More Jesse J mixed in with some Katie Perry and a bit of the old One D... Ok I joke again.
I'd really like to cover In the stone - Earth Wind and Fire, one of my favourites. Or Jamiroquai - (Don't)Give Hate a Chance (one of my favourite bass lines). Or What is Hip ? - Tower of Power (Any ToP for that matter.
If I could work with any musician dead or alive, who would it be ?
Because nobody wants to see a 2 hour drum duet with me and Benny Greb, and everyone else will probably pick James Brown, Stevie, MJ, or Nile Rodgers, I'm going to have to say Marcus Miller, that guy grooves like no other! Victor Wooten though :o
What do you do outside of jukebox ?
Outside of Jukebox, I teach A Level Music Technology and give 121 drum tuition to 6th formers. As well as playing regularly on the pub/club circuit at the weekends. I also like to make cake. Cake. Mm. Cake. And because I consume 99% of the cake I make, I enjoy going for a good ol' run to keep it off!
Favorite part of a wedding?
And locking in the groove with my fellow groovers of course!
Best thing about Jukebox
The people who make up the band. A top bunch of chaps (and chap-ess, Alice)never a miserable face in sight. I like how each set is different to suit the client. Keeps each gig fresh.
And lets 'face' it, not every band has a bass player with a groove face like Dave right ?
What are you looking forward to most with jukebox in 2014?
MORE GIGS! And wedding cake. Birthday cake. Conference cake. 3rd cake. Pre-gig cake. Cake.
Extra question, what is your favorite cake ?
1 quarter victoria sponge, 1 quarter lemon drizzle, 1 quarter chocolate orange, 1 quarter syrup sponge, covered in chocolate so it's like cake roulette. Topped with a cherry bakewell.
