From sweet dulcet tones to a rip roaring edge comes the resident Bass/Tenor Trombonist with Jukebox Band. Andrew Crampton is a fast and upcoming musician, composer and arranger.
How do you prepare for a gig? Do you get excited? Nervous?
Definitely excited, I usually get a packet of bourbons, clean my trombone and wait in anticipation for an awesome gig!
What's your favourite song that Jukebox performs and why?
Got to be Superstition, the horn line is just awesome and you can’t beat a bit of Stevie.
What song would you like to see Jukebox perform?
Happy by Pharrell Williams. I’m sure a member of Jukebox could do an awesome arrangement!
If you could work with one musician dead or alive, who would it be? And you can only choose one!
Wynton Marsalis, I’d do anything to stand alongside him. What a legend of a man!
What do you do outside of Jukebox?
I play Bass Trombone for Pemberton Old Wigan DW Band as well as the occasional orchestral job playing for shows. I also have a passion for composition and arranging!
What's your favourite part of a Wedding?
When everyone starts dancing to our music, there are always a few drunken people wanting to sing along.
In your opinion what's the best thing about Jukebox and how do we differ from your normal function bands?
The best thing about Jukebox for me has got to be the professionalism and organisation of anything and everything we do, as well as the overwhelming performances we deliver.
What are you looking forward to most with Jukebox in 2014?
We’ve got a number of Jukebox Big Band gigs lined up, nothing beats the sound of the four piece horn section.
