I am a 19 year old bass player currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. My passion for the bass has led me to play in various different bands in and around the North West, giving me experience in many different genres and styles of music.
How do you prepare for a gig? Do you get excited? Nervous?
I prepare by firstly running the songs and then cleaning my gear so it’s in it’s best state, ready for the gig. Just before playing I can get a little nervous but once I’m playing I just enjoy myself.
What's your favourite song that Jukebox performs and why?
My favourite song is ‘Play That Funky Music’ by Wild Cherry because it is fun to play and generally gets people up on the dance floor.
What song would you like to see Jukebox perform?
I would love to see Jukebox perform ‘Brick House’ by the Commodores. There are few bass lines more fun to play!
If you could work with one musician dead or alive, who would it be? And you can only choose one!
This is a hard question but I would say the jazz legend Miles Davis because of the huge impact he made on music.
What do you do outside of Jukebox?
My time is either spent at the RNCM studying or playing in the projects I have outside of Jukebox.
What's your favourite part of a Wedding?
My favourite part of playing a wedding is when our second set is underway and everybody is in a state where they’re up and dancing.
In your opinion what's the best thing about Jukebox and how do we differ from your normal function bands?
The best thing about Jukebox are the people in the band. In other function bands the line-up often changes with every gig, but with Jukebox you can be pretty certain that you’ll now who you’re playing with and be comfortable with them. Everyone is there to have a great time and it shows when we’re playing.
What are you looking forward to most with Jukebox for the rest of 2014 and beyond?
I’m obviously looking forward to playing more gigs! I think as Jukebox grows the gigs we play will become better and better and it’ll be great to see how the band develops in the future.
